Are you interested in entrepreneurial and leadership roles in emergency care systems? In this program focused on mobile health care delivery and community paramedicine, you'll learn to design and improve these systems. You'll then be ready to better serve communities and create solutions that improve the patient care experience.
The MPSLA degree program is designed primarily for public safety professionals. An advanced degree is an important key to career progression within public safety administration. Those with an advanced degree have a significant advantage --- a practical understanding of public safety organization administration --- when they seek to progress in their profession.
The emergency medical services mobile integrated healthcare concentration provides the foundation for leadership and administration of EMS organizations. This program takes a multiprofessional approach to administration of EMS organizations and encompasses public policy and administration, organizational management and leadership, finance and data analysis. Students develop a solid foundation of knowledge and skills on which to build success within the field of EMS administration.

Students choose two courses from a restricted list or any graduate-level CPP or PAF course, with program approval, for the electives or research credits.
Applicants must fulfill the requirements of both the Graduate College and the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions.
Applicants are eligible to apply to the program if they have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in criminology or criminal justice, public administration or public service, sociology or social work, public safety or fire service management, parks and recreation management, applied sciences or another closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's degree program, or applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in an applicable master's degree program.

- evidence of current employment in an organization in the field of the degree program or concentration, or at least two years of professional experience in the field of the chosen degree program or concentration

Additional Application Information
An applicant whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency regardless of their current residency.
The written statement should be one or two pages and describe prior education, relevant professional experience and career goals, and explain how the criminal justice program will help them attain their career goals. The statement should explicitly explain how their plans are consistent with the role and mission of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at ASU. It is recommended that applicants who feel they are weak in a particular area or admission requirement address their plan to remedy any shortcomings if they are granted provisional admission to the program.

Program learning outcomes identify what a student will learn or be able to do upon completion of their program. This program has the following program outcomes:
- Critically integrate theoretical perspectives on leadership into the planning and evaluation of public safety programs.
- Demonstrate the essential qualifications for employment in public safety leadership roles by applying their foundational knowledge of organizational leadership and administration to a final written project.
- Able to effectively manage employees, multi-agency partnerships and organizational change efforts in emergency medical service agencies.
With the Master of Public Safety Leadership and Administration degree from ASU, graduates are in a position to lead and improve EMS teams in mobile integrated health care. They have knowledge and skills that uniquely qualify them for leadership positions in different types of EMS agencies, such as hospitals, public health departments and managed care organizations. Graduates should expect to find employment and advancement in all levels of government agencies and in the private sector.

3 year programs
These programs allow students to fast-track their studies after admission and earn a bachelor's degree in three years or fewer while participating in the same high-quality educational experience of a 4-year option. Students should talk to their academic advisor to get started.
Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Acceptance to the graduate program requires a separate application. Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master’s during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program.
