    + Provides analysis and design, configures, installs and optimizes LAN's (local area networks- both network operating systems and the network infrastructure and cable plant), their interfaces with WANs (wide area networks), and data communications hardware and software (e.g., routers, switches, wireless).     + In depth knowledge of Perimeter Security and provides design and support for Firewall, IPS, VPN, SSL and other security related technologies such as Application Layer Firewalls.

    The GS-2210-12, Information Technology Specialist manages a complex computer network with geographically dispersed file servers, routers, workstations, and peripherals. The position is responsible for designing, implementing, and administering the park information systems including network architecture, performance characteristics, and software configurations. This also includes designing, installing, configuring, and upgrading servers, LAN/WAN network equipment and the network storage array hardware. The position develops projects to modernize and enhance information systems and assists with managing the Information Technology budget along with the Information Technology Branch Chief. The position provides third tier technical support. Two Information Technology Specialists report to this positon.
