    **Job Description**

    AECOM’s US West Region Water Business Line is actively seeking a Wastewater Process Mechanical Engineer to lead and contribute technical expertise for projects; support mentoring, training, and growth of staff; and support strategy and sale of AECOM’s services to this designated market sector.

    This is a terrific opportunity for a Wastewater Engineer with detailed design, construction and management experience who is seeking a role that allows them to expand their experience and responsibility. The appropriately qualified candidate will have a proven record in design, standards development and implementation, design management, proven technical experience in Wastewater treatment systems including biosolids management, digesters, and RNG. The candidate should be able to meet with clients and present technical options and solutions for meeting complex wastewater challenges and enthusiasm to enhance and grow a well-established design team.

    **Responsibilities:**

    Responsibilities for this position include:

    + Provide technical design expertise specific to biosolids, digesters, cogeneration and RNG with interest in becoming subject matter expert in the field.

    + Work closing with AECOMs Biosolids and Biogas Subject Matter Experts for project positioning and execution.

    + Enthusiastic about seeking creative solutions in tackling design challenges more efficiently.

    + Support development, adoption, and implementation of technical standards in biosolids, digesters and RNG across the Wastewater business line.

    + Be an active participant in AECOMs Technical Practice Process Mechanical Group for development and implementation of technical standards across AECOMs Water Business Line

    + Be an advocate for implementation and adoption of AECOM standards in project implementation.

    + Support AECOMs Design-Build group in pursuit and delivery of wastewater projects.

    + Support technical design development across wastewater process mechanical systems including pumps and pipes, mixers, clarifiers, filters, dewatering equipment, compressors, boilers, heat exchangers, screening, or similar mechanical systems.

    + Support business development through technical proposal writing and client brown bags.

    + Supervise mid to junior level engineers on multi-disciplinary projects.

    + Supports AECOMs Digital Team in developing and implementing initiatives for advancing the way we work, including:

    + Support the evolution and execution of a best-in-class execution delivery including design processes and supporting technology.

    + Engage with client delivery teams in on-going projects & programs to understand challenges, pain points, and blockers to digital technology adoption and usage.

    + Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

    Who we are
    Chandler was the first city in Arizona to receive accreditation of our water and wastewater operations by the American Public Works Association, the toughest accreditation to achieve in the industry. The Utilities Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's water treatment plant, 32 water wells, and 19 booster station facilities and share another water plant with the Town of Gilbert. The Utility also operates wastewater and reclaimed water infrastructure, including industrial wastewater/ brine reduction and three wastewater facilities. We treat over 64 million gallons of fresh water and treat over 30 million gallons of wastewater per day to class A+ reclaimed water to meet irrigation and industrial demands. Our water is received from four primary water sources: Salt River, Verde River, Colorado River and ground water supplied by our extensive well field facilities. We also use advanced treatment processes to recycle over 7 million gallons of industrial wastewater and return it back for industrial reuse. Service is provided to the City of Chandler residential, commercial, and industrial users by a network of 1,224 miles of active water mains, 942 miles of active sewer mains, and 92 miles of reclaimed water mains.

    This position will be part of our talented and growing Electrical and I&C team in the West Regional Design Center. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    + Perform field inspection, testing, design and construction coordination for electrical, instrumentation and control systems for water and wastewater utility clients.
