    **Job Summary:**

    Reports to the site Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to support on the planning and implementation of environmental health and safety programs by developing and maintaining a comprehensive occupational safety program for the facility including safety inspections, participate on incident investigations, develop and provide HSE training and perform related tasks as assigned. The HSE Specialist will help ensure conformity to applicable federal, state, and local standards related to environmental compliance and occupational health and safety.

    **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

    + Guide and promote employee health and safety performance by assisting on developing health and safety systems, programs and procedures to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses, and enhance the overall site safety culture resulting in management engagement, employee involvement and the reduction in unsafe conditions and behaviors.-

    + Participate on incident investigations to guide on finding root causes and identifying aligned long-term corrective actions.

    + Perform facility audits, surveys, and inspections to identify environmental, safety and occupational hazards and weaknesses, to promote effective practices and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and develop recommendations that provide solutions, remedies or process improvement.

    + Participates, review and approves risk assessments such as: job safety analysis, new processes, new chemicals, and personal protective equipment assessments.

    + Support all chemical and hazardous waste management, including transportation and documentation.

    + Train/Educate employees on how to prevent health problems using safety training programs

    + Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with West Safety Policies.

    + Participate on projects for new equipment or improvement as safety representative.

    + Contributes to and/or plans and executes HSE, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility (CR) related projects. Develops and reports on project objectives. Manages project resources such as manpower, financials, and other relevant factors.

    + Recommend changes to protect workers.

    + Maintain communication with all levels of the organization to ensure that safety and training guidelines are being followed

    **Job Summary:**

    In this role, you will support and facilitate the health, safety and environmental (HSE) programs in the Scottsdale Development Center’s R&D and Quality laboratories, support corporate HSE initiatives, and support global laboratory HSE initiatives. You will work in close collaboration with laboratory managers, supervisors, and vendors.

    Using your familiarity with laboratory HSE support services, you will be responsible for developing and delivering laboratory training content, writing procedures and programs, submitting compliance report data, interfacing with regulatory agencies as needed, and conducting equipment and process risk assessments. This role will serve as a technical expert in chemical, biological, radiological, and general safety requirements as they influence operations for the laboratory building.

    This role will interface with the global laboratory leaders and management and provide day to day support for R&D and Quality lab teams on all aspects of HSE and to drive continuous improvement in HSE programs.

    **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

    + Implement and provide guidance related to local HSE programs and plans, including Chemical Hygiene Plan, Bloodborne Pathogens Plan, Emergency Action Plan, Radiation Safety Manual, etc.

    + Provide guidance and consultation to ensure compliance with OSHA, ADEQ, EPA, DOT, FAA and other federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental requirements.
