We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.

The **Boeing Product & Services Safety (P&SS) organization** is seeking a **System Safety Engineer** to join the **Enterprise Safety Mission Assurance Team (ESMA)** in **Mesa, AZ,** to support the Attack Programs.

The Attack program is looking for a System Safety Engineer that can assess hazards across a broad range of Subsystems including Airframes, Electrical, Mechanical and Software.

This is a unique opportunity to work on proven platforms, ensuring mission success and continuing to ensure Product Safety is designed into the Attack programs for all USG and international customers. The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree and experience with rotorcraft safety (ARP 4761 and MIL STD 882E), including some experience in engineering, AH-64E pilot, or software. Military and maritime experience is a plus along with strong technical writing and communication skills.

At Boeing, Safety is at the core of everything we do. As a System Safety Engineer, you will work across the entire program lifecycle, from conceptual development into design and test, production, and sustainment of fielded aircraft. You’ll experience the big picture and fascinating complexities of the defense industry while getting hands on experience on the aircraft.

Your primary goal as a System Safety Engineer will be to identify and mitigate all potential and existing hazards. You will have the opportunity to learn about all aircraft subsystems and their interactions, while collaborating with Engineering Design and Subsystem Teams. We are looking for candidates that can ask tough questions, challenge conventional thinking, and identify potential hazards to our aircraft and crew. Typical tasks include assessing a variety of Engineering documents, data, and artifacts, while working with the Engineering Teams to determine the safest and most cost-effective solutions to a wide variety of actual and potential hazards. Your assessment will include gathering data from field, factory, and engineering, calculating the probability and severity of possible outcomes. You will work with the Design teams to influence a safer more robust system. Successful candidates will have both excellent technical writing and documentation skills. You’ll have the opportunity to interface with all levels of Engineering and Program Management as well as our customers.

Additionally, Software System Safety influences software requirements, design, and testing, using best practices and lessons learned to ensure a product that will perform as intended throughout its life cycle. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with Avionics/Software teams, other systems experts, test team, suppliers, customers, and product end-users, to produce hardware, firmware, and software that works as designed, while minimizing unintended operations and hazards. You will have the opportunity to manage hazards across the boundaries of hardware into software and reduce the risks through various means of architecture negotiations with developers and customers using a systematic approach. You will help design and modify fault trees to ensure a safe and robust system required by aviation platforms for fault tolerance, protecting the lives of the pilots and support crew. You will gain exposure to FAA and Military guidelines and how to blend them, which will provide a lifelong niche in the field of aviation.
