Summary This position is located at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC), in Phoenix, Arizona. This position is directly responsible as a lead for the off-shift hours of operations (night/evening) in the various sections of the laboratory which includes: Chemistry, Blood Bank (Immunohematology), Hematology, Coagulation, Immunology, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Phlebotomy, Specimen Processing, and Send Outs. Responsibilities Performs a wide range of clinical laboratory tests/examinations per requests by medical staff for use in clinical diagnosis, patient screening, monitoring patient therapy, and status and other authorized purposes. Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis of blood and urine using a variety of analyzers. Performance of routine and specialized procedures in accordance with established methodology manuals, technical references, and precedents. Interprets Iris urinalysis and microscopic analysis of urine specimen. Performs cell examination and studies bodily fluids and cells to locate any abnormal cells. Incumbent must be familiar with microscopes and cell counters. Performs routine hematological examinations such as complete blood count, manual differential counts, coagulation studies, sedimentation rate, etc. Performs microbiological examinations on a variety of specimens using morphological, cultural, biochemical, and serological identification of micro-organisms. Serves as team leader for evening or night shift and is responsible for substantially assuring that the work assignments of employees are carried out. Incumbent is responsible for monitoring and reporting the status of assigned laboratory issues and projects. This combination of education and experience must have provided knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of medical technology equivalent to that provided by the full 4-year course of study described in A or B above. All science and mathematics courses must have been acceptable for credit toward meeting the requirements for a science major at an accredited college or university. Acceptable experience is responsible professional or technician experience in a hospital laboratory, health agency, industrial medical laboratory, or pharmaceutical house; or teaching, test development, or medical research program experience that provided an understanding of the methods and techniques applied in performing professional clinical laboratory work. **WHAT YOU’LL DO**

+ Apply high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing and environmental monitoring, to ensure that all products manufactured are fit for use

+ Be able to work with fellow microbiologist, with a high degree of motivation, attention to important details with clear communication to all team members. This is important due to the high degree of responsibility and working within a small group where each person is relied upon highly

+ Prioritize tasks to efficiently be completed with the most accurate results, and to communicate clearly and work together in a team environment

+ Product testing, Environmental testing, Raw ingredient testing

+ Documentation, Project work, Troubleshooting

+ Media preparation/general lab work: Housekeeping

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING**

**Required**

+ High school diploma (or equivalent) required plus 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics), plus 2 years of laboratory experience or 4 years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

+ Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals

+ College or working in food/pharmaceutical/medical device plant or hospital/medical lab.

**Preferred**

+ Science related Associates Degree with at least 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics plus 1 year of related laboratory experience or 2 years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

+ Science related Bachelor’s Degree with at least 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics

**Please note: This is a 12-hour Night shift position from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am and allows you to have every other weekend off.**

**WHAT YOU’LL DO**

+ Apply high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing and environmental monitoring, to ensure that all products manufactured are fit for use

+ Be able to work with fellow microbiologist, with a high degree of motivation, attention to important details with clear communication to all team members. This is important due to the high degree of responsibility and working within a small group where each person is relied upon highly

+ Prioritize tasks to efficiently be completed with the most accurate results, and to communicate clearly and work together in a team environment

+ Product testing, Environmental testing, Raw ingredient testing

+ Documentation, Project work, Troubleshooting

+ Media preparation/general lab work: Housekeeping

+ Communication, Teamwork.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING**

**Required**

+ High school diploma (or equivalent) required plus 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics), plus 2 years of laboratory experience or 4 years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

+ Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals

+ College or working in food/pharmaceutical/medical device plant or hospital/medical lab.

**Preferred**

+ Science related Associates Degree with at least 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics plus 1 year of related laboratory experience or 2 years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment

+ Science related Bachelor’s Degree with at least 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics

**Please note: This is a 12-hour Night shift position from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am and allows you to have every other weekend off.**
