The role is ideal for candidates with an interest in building a construction oversight and operations and maintenance (O&M) focused career in the environmental field. You will assist our engineering team with development, testing, O&M, troubleshooting, and repair of soil and groundwater treatment equipment including vapor and liquid-phase carbon vessels, groundwater sparge units, thermal oxidizers, bioreactors, and soil vapor extraction (SVE) systems; compile construction quality assurance (CQA) monitoring data related to environmental remediation construction and (O&M) projects; and provide field & office support to scientists and engineers for a diverse private and public sector client base. The role requires the ability to comprehend construction plans and specifications, a willingness to work outdoors, perform fieldwork and travel for extensive periods of time, including overnights, weekends & potential holidays.

    ABOUT THE POSITION:

    * Collect field data and samples for laboratory analysis in association with water, wastewater and vapor treatment system operation, as well as with site remedial investigations;
    * Work closely with engineers to understand the functionality of remedial system components including pumps, blowers, air compressors, chillers, oxygen concentrators, AC units, ozone production cells, ozone delivery diaphragm pumps, pneumatic actuator valves, PLCs, VFDs and various sensors;
    * Understand electro-mechanical configurations/installations of system components using system drawings, schematics, and O&M manuals;
    * Perform routine preventative O&M on remediation systems;
    * Monitor system operations daily via remotely or with telemetry;
    * Respond to system alarms via remote control or site visits;
    * Perform timely troubleshooting of alarm-related equipment with engineering support to diagnose malfunctions;
    * Perform repairs including dismantle, test, adjust, replace, assemble, and install of mechanical and electrical equipment of systems such as transformers, sensors, motors, relays, and wires according to vendor instructions, schematics, user manuals, or specifications to minimize system downtime;
    * Perform bi-annual and annual system service;
    * Communicate timely to engineers regarding findings in the field;
    * Monitor activities on job sites to ensure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g. technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans, etc.);
    * Provide CQA monitoring on several types of construction and/or environmental activities on enviro-civil construction sites;
    * Prepare daily and weekly field reports, construction schedules & progress reports;
    * Ensure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy & procedures;
    * Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings;
    * Assist in the preparation of final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices;
    * Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company’s Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures; and

    What will you be doing?

    This position will be a key member of the ERCA test team. Duties include:

    + Execute test efforts alongside Test Officers as the ERCA Program test representative

    + Coordinate daily test activities and facilitate communications between offsite CCDC AC team members and the YPG test crew. These communications will include regular phone calls and teleconferences with SMEs and offsite support, in addition to providing daily reports (below).

    Under general supervision, work with other Technicians at mine site to obtain and deliver consistent and accurate samples to the assay laboratory in a timely manner. Assembles data and assists with problem-solving requiring basic theories and Engineering fundamentals

    + Identify which drill holes require sampling from the Drill Pattern

    + Must work closely and coordinate work schedule with dispatch and/or drilling and blasting

    + Obtain representative samples following the appropriate SOP's

    + Ensure that samples are obtained from equally spaced locations within the drill hole, that the minimum sample weight is obtained, that samples are correctly labeled, etc.

    + Assist with quality control; for those sample locations that are identified as locations for duplicate samples, repeat the sampling process on the same blast hole

    + Ensure that the duplicate samples are correctly labeled and that both the original and the duplicate are identified accordingly for laboratory staff.

    + Transport and deliver all samples to the assay laboratory, in a timely manner.
