    **Responsibilities**

    The Simulation Education Specialist performs a full range of professional duties in designing and implementing simulation curriculum (courses, content, and materials). The incumbent works collaboratively to design, implement and evaluate clinical educational activities including curriculum development, competency programs, orientation, continuing education, staff development and professional development within a collaborative practice framework. He or she will conduct an assessment of need, design curriculum for instruction, implement, teach simulation education classes and follow up with an evaluation of curriculum created. He or she functions in the role of clinical educator, facilitator, change agent, consultant, researcher, and leader.

    **Qualifications**

    Masters' Degree in Nursing with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience or 5 years teaching/instructional (adult education, medical/clinical education and/or human factors) experience. OR - Masters' Degree or higher in education or healthcare related field with a minimum of 10 years of educational/teaching/instructional experience, 5 of which are simulation-based education work experience. Certified Health Simulation Educator certification would be required in place of an RN license. Clinical experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Simulation, professional development, or other related medical education certification (e.g. CHSE certification, NPD-BC certification) preferred.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position is responsible for enhancing clinical practice through planning, developing and conducting education for clinicians, providers and other key clinical services staff within assigned facility/entity, including evaluating the effectiveness of programs and providing guidance to staff and key leaders based on results.     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    The Coding Educator 2 identifies opportunities to improve provider documentation and creates an education plan tailored to each assigned provider. The Coding Educator 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

    The Coding Educator 2 reviews medical records and arranges educational sessions with providers aimed at quality of care and documentation improvements. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

    + AAPC or AHIMA Coding Certification

    + 2 + yrs medical record review knowledge

    + Comprehensive knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    + Adobe Acrobat working experience required

    + Problem solve complex issues

    + Guide business and leadership in process improvement
