    Job Purpose: Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures using materials, such as wood, plywood, or steel forms utilizing carpenter s hand tools and power tools and conforming to plans, specifications, and local, state, and federal building codes.

    Roles, Duties, & Responsibilities:


    * Reads and understands blue prints, sketches, building plans, and drawings.
    * Selects specified dimensional lumber or other material.
    * Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
    * Verifies trueness of structure goals.
    * Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
    * Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
    * Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures.
    * Loads and unloads lumber and other material as required.
    * Prepares layout using rule, framing square, and calipers.
    * Shapes materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and planes.
    * Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, screws, or glue.
    * May weld metal parts to steel structural members.
