    Summary This position is part of the WAPA-DSW-Desert Southwest. As an Engineering Technician, you will perform a variety of duties related to the functional responsibilities in supporting activities in computer aided engineering/computer aided drafting (CAE/CAD), design automation, and software support. Responsibilities As an Engineering Technician you will: Prepare preliminary and final civil/electrical design drawings for substations. This includes scaled layout drawings showing bus and equipment configurations and foundations, plan and elevation views as well as wiring diagrams using AutoCAD software. Prepare material quantity estimates for substations. Calculate cut and fill quantities, foundation design, providing material quantities for both concrete and steel for construction specifications, and determining steel structures for substations using Civil 3D and other applicable software. Provide technical advice and consultation in the application of CAE/CAD system to engineering design functions. Work closely with individual engineers and technicians in order to take full advantage of the opportunities available with the CAE system for their applications. Serve as the authoritative source of technical information on CAE/CAD operational and maintenance procedures for your region. Develop and update standards and procedures for CAE/CAD users as well as standard specifications for the related materials, equipment, and software.
