    The Machinist will perform the set-up and operation of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) equipment, as well as, other conventional machining equipment to produce various components and finished goods. Incumbents will be responsible for manufacturing parts and components to match quality standards and drawings.

    This position is based in Nogales, AZ reporting to a Manager, Automation in our Automation Center of Excellence.

    Key Responsibilities


    * Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and written instructions to understand task at hand
    * Identify tooling and inserts and adjustments needed to perform changeover to next order
    * Load and interpret program using M & G codes
    * Set up CNC equipment including touching off tools and adjusting feeds and speeds
    * Operate and troubleshoot CNC equipment throughout operation to ensure part quality
    * Use measuring equipment and gages to ensure produced part meets specifications
    * Prioritize work within cell through communicating with Team Leads and Managers
    * Record data as it relates to productivity and first article inspections of parts run
    * Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed in the respective work area

    Critical Skills & Qualifications


    * High school diploma or GED equivalent is required; Associate's degree in a related discipline preferred
    * Previous related work experience in the set-up, troubleshooting and operation of CNC machines
    * Ability to set-up, troubleshoot, and operate mill or lathe
    * Ability to set up and run conventional machining equipment
    * Ability to load and interpret M & G codes

    Your Day in the Life as a CNC Prototype Machinist

Programs, sets up and operates manual and CNC machine tools; machines and shapes metal parts to close tolerances; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining. Demonstrates knowledge of the working properties of the common metals; selects standard materials, parts, and equipment required for this work; and fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment and machines; and making all necessary adjustments to complete repairs. Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Collaborates with design engineers and customers to understand requirements, help design and develop solutions, and recommend courses of action. Performs quality control inspections and other duties as required to complete the assigned mission. Shares work progress and information with fellow machinists. Assists with mentoring junior machinists. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    Pay Rate: $29.60/hourEducation/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements:• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.• Must have one of the following, Bachelor's Degree in related field and 5 years machine shop experience or Two years Machinist Technical school degree and 10 years’ experience as a machine shop equipment operator or 12 years’ experience working in a machine shop environment to include working with CNC machines.     Your Day in the Life as a CNC Prototype Machinist
    Your day-to-day includes working with our Manufacturing and Engineering teams to ensure AeroSpec’s ISO certified quality is upheld while making schedule. You’ll review samples, drawings, and instructions to understand specifications of output, determine and program parts in our CAD CAM package, Surfcam, speed of machine, and you monitor the machine to adjust the feed, maintain temperature, and identify issues.

    Throughout the day, you will analyze and diagnose machining, programming, and tooling problems. A portion of this role will be responsible for performing first article, in-process, and finished work inspections on machined parts.

    Job Qualifications
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating CNC Vertical Mills from HAAS or similar
