Our Mission: Our mission is to provide hope to youth and special needs adults by fostering family-like environments, promoting normalcy, and encouraging faith development in the community. Our Vision: We see a future where every person at Ohana knows they are loved, valued, and has a future worth fighting for. They are part of our Ohana. Regardless of anyone’s past story, abilities, or needs every person received love and dignity and is seen for who they are. Ohana’s Quality Improvement and Training department works together to ensure our programs and systems provide the highest standards of service and care. These standards allow for continuous improvement and provide a positive impact on the lives of our foster youth and special needs adults. ‍ Ohana is in the process of becoming a CARF accredited agency and anticipate becoming fully accredited by the end of 2021.

In addition to residential services, Ohana also provides Mentorship Programs, and Transitional Housing for Youth who have aged out of the foster care program in AZ. Ohana has also started to provide Youth Advocate Work where we support youth who are in need of adoptive placement locate their forever home. Lastly, Ohana has roots and ties to churches throughout the valley that allow opportunities for youth and members to build natural support and long term relationships. Ohana strives to connect out staff and members/youth to the community as a way of supporting their social and relationship skills.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who has a the ability to set boundaries for themselves when it comes to work and life. Behavioral Health Technicians will experience challenging moments that require a level of emotional intelligence and self awareness that to support youth through symptoms of trauma, poor attachment, self harm, and possible suicidal ideation. With this field having a high level of compassion fatigue, it’s imperative that employees have the ability to manage their own emotions as well as adopt a routine to care for themselves. This could include physical activity, sleep hygiene, and boundaries. This also includes the ability to discern what healthy relational boundaries look like when in a parental-like role. For example, we are not the youth's parents, but we need to set limits and boundaries for important aspects of pyschosocial development. An ideal employee will understand the importance of team work, communication, reliability, and consistency. Despite not being the parent of these youth, you will act as an influence which will require you to be present and open to working with youth to uncover and locate interest that will enhance their overall life. Open mindedness is essential, and being multiculturally aware is a must as we serve youth from all walks of life and backgrounds. Honoring their culture can lead to strong bonds and support growth. Professional development and ongoing training is an expectation as Ohana provides bi-monthly training related to the job.
