Stantec's Water business has an opportunity for a Water Reuse Process Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.

**Your Opportunity**

The role of the Water Reuse Engineer is to lead teams, work as a team member for more complex and larger projects, and work independently on small and large projects, as appropriate. This role will support advancement of the Water Reuse practice primarily in the Southwest U.S. with opportunities to work throughout North America and abroad. The selected candidate will need to be self-directed, capable of leading and supervising complex teams, eager to mentor staff, and should demonstrate a passion for involvement in water reuse and an enthusiasm to help develop the practice. The projects assigned may have complex features that will require the application of mature knowledge and experience. The projects assigned may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope.

**Your Key Responsibilities**

+ Performs more complex engineering design tasks on assigned water reuse, alternative water source and related water and wastewater projects under the guidance of a Project Technical Lead or Project Manager, including pilot studies; engineering calculations, drawings, and reports; client presentations and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies.

+ Participate in development of water reuse solutions with clients. This includes, but may not be limited to: face-to-face client interactions, site visits, technical training for client staff, workshop presentations on treatment technology, planning, regulatory frameworks, etc.

+ Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.

+ Lead the preparation and coordination of pilot studies, engineering studies, design reports and project specifications with construction documents.

+ Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.

+ Manage and lead other team members while working on projects; complete tasks and delegate specific project tasks to other team members as appropriate.

+ Assists senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.

+ Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own products and facilitates independent technical review of these projects.

+ Conducts quality assessment and quality control on other projects on elements of other projects.

+ Assists with the management of the design and construction of projects.

+ Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel.

+ Coordinates with the regulatory review to seek final approval.

+ Assists in the development and updates of project design standards and guidelines; prepares abstracts and technical papers.

+ Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.


**Your Capabilities and Credentials**

+ Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.

+ Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors, funding agencies and reviewing agencies; to deliver technical presentations in public forums in conferences and technical symposia.

+ Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

+ Possesses excellent time-management skills; thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and available resources.

+ General understanding of all phases of project document production, client procurement procedures, and regulatory approval processes.

+ Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.

+ Understanding of aquatic chemistry and water quality issues relevant to municipal and industrial water reuse.

+ Ability evaluate and design advanced water treatment processes.

+ Ability to perform hydraulic calculations.

+ Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Adobe.

**Education and Experience**

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

Licensed Professional Engineer.

Minimum of 8-10 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
