Software Engineer II

Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Capacity, Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

Team Overivew:

We have built platform (Mantis) to enable system driven planning functionalities, such as Demand Forecasting, Capacity signal generation, and many other business areas. We are looking for an engineering manager to lead our Mantis Service & ML team to build big data based, self-service, configurable and scalable Mantis platform that supports fast growing supported applications on top.


+ Develop backend services for our production forecasting platform, using cutting edge cloud technologies

+ Deploy forecasting algorithms optimized for execution in an Apache Spark environment (such as Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics)

+ Continuously tune machine learning and time series forecasting models

+ Engineer features to enhance the performance of machine learning algorithms

+ Own the development, quality, testing, and production readiness of the services you build

+ Collaborate with business partners and data scientists to design end-to-end solutions

+ Develop innovative solutions to hard problems under ambiguity and no obvious solutions


Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or similar applied quantitative field

+ 1+ years of industry experience in developing production-grade software or machine learning code in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

+ Computer Science fundamentals with good testing, debugging, and analytical skills

+ Proficiency using Python in a distributed computing environment, such as Spark

+ Experience with typical data management systems and tools such as SQL

+ Experience with maintaining a large code base using code versioning systems such as git
