Performance Pay:

Available annually

New hire experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a five-year maximum

New hire education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Overview

To directly assist the Executive Director of Operations and Construction in overseeing all construction and renovation projects. This position is focused on the management of the entire lifecycle of projects, including reviewing project requests, managing scope development and cost estimating, and overseeing architectural programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, inspections, and close outs. The Construction Manager will lead a team in serving Mesa Public Schools and will work closely with various external stakeholders, including design professionals, engineers, contractors, inspectors, and various government agencies.

Qualifications

Project leader and project initiator for the building renewal grant program at the School Facilities Division at the Arizona Department of Administration.
Supervises Construction Project Managers to ensure specification compliance, accurate records, and timely completion of projects.
Ensures that the Construction Project Managers diligently verify that all contracted work is being executed in strict accordance with applicable local, state, federal, and international building codes.
Coordinates with construction, purchasing and operations to track purchase orders, expenditures, reconcile invoices, and ensure accurate recordkeeping for financial services.
Maintain fixed assets related to construction projects in conjunction with audit management services.
A minimum of five years of experience in managing construction-related workforces with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
Exceptional proficiency in computer usage, including software applications such as Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Google Looker Studio, and construction specific software such as ProCore, Blue Beam, etc. Experience operating computerized work order systems.
Must possess in-depth knowledge of construction projects and techniques, including all associated industry standard construction documentation used to manage the design and construction of the built environment.
Comprehensive understanding of building trades, materials, and local and international codes used in building construction.
Knowledge and understanding of Arizona school district construction procurement processes, including all alternative project delivery methods (APDM).
Knowledge of the Arizona Department of Administration’s School Facilities Division administrative codes, statues, and protocol.
Ability to provide strong and effective leadership to a diverse group of workers, including construction project managers.
Proficient in working effectively with consultants during the design and construction phases of projects.
Capability to draft specifications for construction projects not assigned to architects.
Proficiency in identifying discrepancies and errors in plans and specifications provided by architects.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with district personnel at all levels and establish and maintain professional working relationships.
Strong problem-solving abilities to analyze issues, develop action plans, and reach solutions in the best interest of the school district,
Ability to organize, prioritize, take initiative, direct own workload and meet deadlines with an accurate attention to detail.
Possession of a valid Arizona driver’s license with a safe driving record and the ability to operate a district vehicle.
Essential Duties

Provide exceptional leadership, mentoring, and supervision for your direct reports.
Project leader for Arizona School Facilities Board (SFB) building renewal grants and project initiation.
Lead the coordination of programming and design phases for both remodeling and new construction projects, ensuring alignment with the district's educational goals.
Oversee and manage contracts for new construction and facility remodeling projects, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and regulations.
Provide supervision and diligent monitoring of design professionals, including architects and engineers, to ensure that project objectives are met.
Take charge of all aspects of construction projects, including project accounting, management, and scheduling, ensuring efficient communication and coordination among all project stakeholders.
Collaborate with other upper-level administrators to plan and coordinate in-service training programs for department staff members, fostering professional development and knowledge enhancement.
Provide essential support to other upper-level administrators in the pursuit of departmental, program, and district goals, actively contributing to strategic initiatives and educational objectives.
Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
