**Duties & Responsibilities:**

+ Manages the Database Administration team and works independent of supervision

+ Coordinates and leads daily team activities, and supervises the work of individual contributors of the team

+ Assists with management decisions and activities.

+ Allocates resources and monitors projects to ensure that timeline and budget are met

+ Assigns, schedules, and manages the duties of Database Administration team members

+ Exercises independent judgment to consult with and advise database users on procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methodologies

+ Establishes procedures for database operations and database management systems

+ Ensures compliance with established procedures

+ Maintains control programs required for accessing databases

+ Maintain optimum performance of database.

+ Enhances databases and modifies logical relationships

+ Develop DataMart’s and Datawarehouse solutions for data analytics.

+ Identifies and escalates program risks and issues to leadership and assists in issue resolution

+ Implements procedures for testing back-up and recovery procedures of automated systems and security

+ Handles formulation and implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security maintenance, audit, and use

+ Provides organizational assistance to Database Administration Supervisors and first-level managers

+ Ensures that deadlines are met and Database Administration goals are achieved

+ Formulates strategic plans to develop, maintain, update, and resolve issues

+ Communicates effectively in a large distributed software development organization

+ Understands the software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing life cycle (STLC)

+ Demonstrates strong knowledge of database administration methodologies, best practices, and procedures; and applies them to projects to ensure that database administration objectives are achieved

+ Relies on extensive knowledge and professional discretion to achieve project goals

+ Adheres to PPL security standards and process level improvements

+ Manages administrative functions related to recruitment, training, and skill development among team members

+ Conducts performance reviews, sets goals, ensures timekeeping compliance, and takes disciplinary actions when necessary

+ Assists in facilitating the performance management process with DBA team, ensuring alignment with employee career goals and DBA team objectives

+ Guides and mentors DBA staff in ensuring compliance with operations release standards and best practices

+ Demonstrates leadership skills and proven ability to work effectively with different team contributors directly and in a matrix environment

**Required Skills:**

+ Microsoft SQL Server relational database design, T-SQL required, adept at creating stored procedures, views, user-defined functions, table functions.

+ SQL server integration services for ETL and SQL server reporting services

+ MongoDB / NOSQL Administration.

+ Have experience in strategizing and implementing DR.

+ Backups configuration and management with offsite backup solutions.

+ Expert in implementing and managing high availability solutions.

+ Expert in implementing and managing disaster recovery solutions for zero to minimal data loss.

+ Strong experience in migrating on-prem databases to cloud platforms like Azure, AWS and GCP.

+ Performance tuning, especially tuning complex queries, procedures and indexing strategies.

+ Development skills in Microsoft SQL analysis services

+ Thorough understanding of application development methodologies

+ Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

+ Experienced in estimating work, deliverables, and timelines for project plans.

+ Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

+ Able to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

+ The base pay listed may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location. Certain positions may also be eligible for a performance-based incentive as part of total compensation.
