**Your Opportunity**

The Geohazard and Geomorphology team at Stantec uses expert knowledge, principles and experience of Earth surface processes and landforms to help clients achieve their economic, environmental and safety goals by locating resources, identifying, and minimizing the impact of physical constraints, assessing geohazards, analyzing and reducing risk, and developing mitigation solutions.

The Geohazards and Geomorphology team at Stantec provides expertise in:

+ Geomorphological and geohazard mapping and terrain assessments

+ Modeling hillslope and channel processes as well sediment transport

+ Modeling pre- and post-wildfire debris flow and debris hazard assessment and risk analysis

+ Working with engineers to integrate models into engineering design, management, and mitigation solutions

+ Landslide inventory mapping, probability of failure assessments, and quantitative hazard and risk analyses

+ Field mapping and investigations of slope and river hazards

+ Interpretation and analysis of aerial photograph, satellite, InSAR, LiDAR, and UAV data

+ Development of engineering geological models

+ We are now looking for an Geoscientist to join our Fort Collins office but would consider another Stantec Office that fits with our business model.

**Your Responsibilities**

This individual will work closely with hydrotechnical engineering, geotechnical engineering, geomatics, and GIS teams.

This is a technical role at an intermediate level. You could reasonably be expected to:

+ Provide technical expertise and conduct (at the desktop and field levels)

+ geomorphological assessments

+ landslide and landslide hazard assessments

+ landslide risk assessments

+ fluvial assessments

+ Model natural hazard phenomena including landslides, rock fall, debris avalanches, debris flows, debris floods, using industry leading software;

+ Mentor junior staff and collaborate with experienced colleagues and subject matter experts to provide ‘best in class’ solutions to client challenges;

+ Compile and analyze data in ArcGIS Pro.

+ Collect field data and travel to and from sites. Short (5-10 days) interstate trips are not uncommon.

+ Plan and lead field crews to safely acquire the data necessary to solve client challenges

+ Write reports and be responsible for their technical accuracy, communicating limitations and assumptions, delivering within a budget and schedule, and ensuring that the quality meets state requirements and Stantec expectations.

+ Keep accurate time records and submit them weekly.

+ Represent Stantec and the Geohazards and Geomorphology team as a professional champion to our clients and the public at large.

**Qualifications**

**Your Capabilities and Credentials**

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:

+ A proven in depth understanding of geomorphology with a focus on slopes or river systems. The ideal candidate with have a graduate degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in the field of geomorphology, geology, engineering geology or related field and 4-7 years of experience;

+ Registered as, or eligible to register as, a PG in one of the US states. Preference will be given to existing registrants, and among registered professionals, preference will be given to those already registered in California;

+ Demonstrated experience with field programs and the ability to read and correctly interpret the geomorphological landscape;

+ Demonstrated experience in geomorphological mapping and methods;

+ Experience with computer modeling and ability to apply this to a diverse set of geoscientific projects. Preference will be given to experience using RAAMS, HEC-RAS, FLO2D, or similar industry leading software that models geomorphological phenomena. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with debris flow and debris flood modeling or experience with sediment transport and hydrodynamic modeling.

+ Python programming or comparable experience would be beneficial

+ We have a strong preference for candidates with ArcGIS Pro experience. Other GIS experience is acceptable, but the candidate must be willing to rapidly learn ArcGIS Pro on their own time to meet the job requirements and expectations.

+ Experience with managing, processing, and analyzing large data sets including but not limited LiDAR, InSAR, structure from motion multi view stereo point clouds is preferred

+ Familiarity with the geotechnical properties of soils or rocks

+ Willingness to travel and participate in remote field work and ability to adapt to unpredictable field conditions

+ Physically fit and able to endure hiking in rugged terrain

+ Strong communications and writing skills

+ Work effectively in a team environment

+ Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.

+ Prior to employment with Stantec, this position may require the successful passing of a drug & alcohol screen.

**Education and Experience**

Master's degree or better is preferred, but bachelor’s degree in the field of Geography, Geology, or Engineering Geology and demonstrated understanding, training, and experience in Geomorphology to meet the requirements above will be considered.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

**Salary Range(s):**

* $75,000 - $108,800 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

* $80,500 - $116,700 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
