OVERVIEW:

To work as part of a team of skilled journeymen to deliver efficient, concentrated work efforts one campus at a time. Projects are assigned using a team model to be completed in accordance with established safety guidelines and time lines. This position will maintain electrical systems and their components in safe operating conditions, modify or install electrical services, determine the most efficient installation of additional systems and perform routine building maintenance tasks (i.e. painting, carpentry, masonry, electrical, HVAC, etc)

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School education or equivalent required
Valid Arizona driver’s license and safe driving record
Minimum five years’ journeyman level electrician experience including two years’ service repair work required
Significant experience performing routine maintenance tasks in one or more of the following trades: plumbing, painting, carpentry, HVAC, etc
Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods and safe working practices of the electrician trade
Knowledge of city, state and federal electrical codes
Ability to install, repair and maintain electrical systems throughout the district
Ability to interpret, to understand and to work from plans, specifications and blueprints
Ability to estimate the cost of jobs and to make materials list
Computer proficiency to include us of basic software applications (Word, Excel, email, etc)
Ability to schedule, track and close work orders using maintenance software on an iPad hand-held device
Ability to use a variety of hand, power and specialty tools according to established safety guidelines
Good safety and work habits; good attendance record
Ability to read and work from blueprints and to layout work assignments
Ability to successfully perform work assignments according to verbal and/or written instructions with minimum supervision; to coordinate workload using established priorities
Ability to lift and/or to move up to 100 pounds; to work outdoors and in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees F; and to work at various heights
Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships; to work as a member of a team to complete work assignments in a timely manner
Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, swing shift, holidays)
DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:

Repair, install, service and maintain electrical systems including interior and exterior light and power circuits
Install and maintain the electrical parts of shop machinery
Check motors, transformers, generators, switch gear, heating and air conditioning power circuits
Requisition electrical supplies and materials
Perform commercial wiring within the district
Perform, under the direction of a journeyman, minor plumbing maintenance to replace and/or repair leaking, clogged or damaged drains, faucets, commodes, flush valves, water heaters, etc
Perform, under the direction of a journeyman, minor painting maintenance to include proper preparation, paint mixture and application, and use of painting equipment
Perform, under direction of a journeyman, minor carpentry and masonry work to include installing acoustical tiles, floor tiles, baseboard and trim, ceramic tile, tack boards and marker boards, etc; build closets, bookcases and shelving, etc; operate floor sanding equipment, lathes, planes, joiners, band saws, power tools and other woodworking equipment
Perform preventative maintenance on electrical, HVAC, special equipment, special systems, surfaces and plumbing systems in accordance with School Facilities Board (SFB) guidelines
Regular and on-time attendance required
Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Perform repairs to various types or roof systems (i.e. build-up, shingles and single-ply)
Cut glass for desk tops; cut and/or install mirrors; repair existing windows
May prepare working drawings from sketches
May direct the work of helpers
Help write job scopes and specifications
May give direction to and/or oversee the work of outside contractors
Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
SUPERVISION

Maintenance Night Crew Lead

Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Transportation. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
