Responsibilities Directly oversees shift operations, providing guidance and leadership to Mission Support Technicians. Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee has enough work to keep busy. Coordinates multi agency counter narcotics efforts including International/Federal/State/Local narcotics and human or alien smuggling. Arranges for the pickup of Undocumented Alien (UDA) traffic by coordinating with field units and Border Patrol. Serves as a certified operator of an appropriate state(s) Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), which authorizes access to the National Law Enforcement data bases. Implements and administers training. The incumbent must understand and apply a large number of Standardized Evaluation Guidelines. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Selective Placement Factors: This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Those who do not provide evidence they possess the following selective factor(s) will be rated not qualified: This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Department of the Interior Drug-Free and Alcohol-Free Workplace Program. Incumbent must be willing to work rotating shifts, which include nights, holidays, and weekends. Qualified Typist is required for this position. Must be able to type at least 45 words per minute with no more than 3 errors. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. For the GS-9 grade level: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-8 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Working knowledge of, and skill in applying, inspection, investigation, enforcement, and/or compliance principles, concepts, and methodologies; laws, regulations, guidelines, and precedent decisions; requirements of various legal jurisdictions; and practices common to industries and entities regulated by applicable programs sufficient to interpret and analyze data and information to make appropriate recommendations to LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers). Working knowledge of field training techniques sufficient to deliver training, evaluate the effectiveness of the training, provide remediation opportunities to correct deficiencies and evaluate knowledge transfer and retention. Knowledge of leadership concepts, methods, principles, and practices sufficient to perform functions such as: identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees; serving as coach, facilitator, and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members; resolving simple, informal complaints and conflicts of employees; and monitoring and reporting on team members work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work is basically sedentary, but may require frequent trips to network user agencies to attend meetings or obtain project related information. Overtime and rotating shift work are considerations of this job. The incumbent will routinely be required to work nights, holidays and weekends. The incumbent has the added responsibility for such actions as executing short response times to deliver critical information to the requestor. The nature of the work carries a high stress level due to the fact that information often carries significant safety implications. The incumbent may be required to put in long hours beyond the normal tour of duty. The incumbent may be required to travel up to 35% of the time. Work Environment: The work is primarily performed in an office environment. Noise levels are routinely high due to electronic equipment, telephones, radios, and other discussions ongoing in the performance of duties. However, portions of the work will be accomplished away from the incumbent's work place. While on duty, the incumbent may not leave the ICC unless relieved by another qualified employee.
