Client makes Gatling guns that are electrical belt fed ammunition. Special operations is a top customer and they design unique mounts that attach their weapon system to fixed wing, rotor craft, marine vessel, and ground vehicle platforms. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design test and validation of gun components, mechanisms, mounts and/ or manufacturing tooling. Aerospace Design is a huge plus due to mil stds. The Gatling gun mounts to rotor-craft, fixed wing, marine vessel and ground vehicles.

Overview Summary:

A Manufacturing and Production Support Engineer will participate in a wide array of activities supporting the manufacturing and production activities associated with our products. The ideal candidate should be a creative-minded individual with an interest in problem solving, and possess a good functional understanding of material properties, materials science, manufacturing methods, secondary material treatments (heat treat, hardening, surface treatments, plating, and chemical conversion) as well as a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing practices.

A Manufacturing and Production Support Engineer may be involved in any/all stages of product life cycle, from inception through retirement, physical assembly of initial production runs, production support, and technical support for currently fielded designs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•Interface with vendors and outside suppliers to resolve issues related to the manufacture of the client's parts and products.

•Interface with Company Production and Quality departments to resolve issues that arise during production, assembly, or inspection activities.

•Participate in the creation of complete and thorough technical data packages of parts and assemblies to include Engineering/Manufacturing Drawings, Bill of Material documentation, documentation of manufacturing and assembly processes, and/or work instructions.

•Participate in first article inspection activities for validating new vendors.

•Participate in the resolutions/dispositions, root-cause analyses and corrective actions of Quality issues that are technical in nature, including but not limited to:

•Non-conforming products

•Customer complaint/mechanical defects

•Supplier/vendor issues

•Production deficiencies

•Investigation of other product deficiencies, abnormalities and/or failures

•Participate in vendor/supplier audits as needed.

• Assist in the identification and qualification of new vendors and suppliers to expand and diversify Compant's supply chain.

• Participate in origination, review, and approval activities of Engineering Change Requests (ECR’s)

• Interface with Quality/Receiving Inspection personnel to help determine and establish critical inspection criteria for incoming parts and assemblies.

• Participate in, plan, or carry out Factory Acceptance activities.

• Handling, transfer, and management of technical data/information in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and ITAR regulations, as well as in accordance with all company policy regarding both customer-based and internal sensitive/confidential information

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age.

• Must be U.S. Citizen

• Must not be prohibited from handling or working in proximity to firearms based on laws and regulations outlined and enforced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives (BTAFE), or outlined in the Gun Control Act (GCA 1968), or outlined in the National Firearms Act (NFA 1934), or a “prohibited possessor” as outlined by Arizona State Statute (ARS 13-3101)

• Must be comfortable working around firearms.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or other similar Engineering Field

• Demonstrable understanding of fundamental Mechanical Engineering concepts, as well as the following:

o Knowledge of materials (aerospace metals)

o Manufacturing processes and methods

o Basic principles of CNC machining, tooling, and fixturing

o Secondary operations such as heat treatment, hardening, surface treatments, plating, and chemical conversion,

o Principles of designing for manufacturability

• Familiarity with, and ability to read, understand, and create engineering/mechanical drawings in accordance with ANSI Y-14 Drafting Standards

• 3+ years of experience as an engineer in a related field/industry

• Experience and proficiency with common hand tools

• Demonstrable proficiency, and 1+ years of experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software

• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

• Ability to lead and work independently.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience as an engineer in military and defense related industry or fields

• Demonstrable proficiency, and 5+ years of experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software

• Demonstrable proficiency and experience with SolidWorks EPDM (product data management) software

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Software: Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Standards and Practices

• Experience with investment casting, and post-casting machining operations

• Basic knowledge and understanding of firearm mechanics.

• Ability to function effectively as an individual and within a team environment.
