Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Responsibilities Major Duties: Includes but is not limited to the following; - Prepares and serves a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from a full service bar, service bars, or at events, utilizing established recipes, mixes, garnishes and correct glassware for the drinks. Prepares garnishes required for mixed drinks as needed. Takes food orders, heats up and serves various prepared foods or snacks that are available. - Keeps bar areas front and back, clean, neat, and organized, to ensure efficient bar operation, sanitation and safety. Washes bar equipment, cleans counters, cabinets, sinks, glassware, and utensils. Follows all sanitation guidelines. Sweeps and mops bar area as needed during and after shift to prepare for the next business day. - Keeps bar stocked properly at all times with the necessary supplies, mixes, garnishes and alcoholic beverages required for operation. After closing the bar, prepares an inventory list of items needed and submits to management for fulfillment or pulls from supply room in each bar area. Communicates to supervisor when supplies are low and requires ordering in ample to time to ensure items do not run out. May perform other sanitation or cleaning duties within assigned work area as required and perform bar back duties. - Operates a point of sale (POS) register system for all transactions and is accountable for cash fund and balancing at end of shift. Assists in preparing for and the taking of liquor inventories. Checks identification of the guests to make sure they meet minimum age requirements to purchase alcohol or tobacco. Utilizes all systems and follows all procedures to minimize inventory losses. - Assists with special events when needed with setup and teardown of tables and chairs, setting up and maintaining beverage stations and cleanup after the event. - Alerts higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise, but where possible takes action to solve problems quickly independently. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injuries, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Complies with all food and beverage regulations and maintains food handling and alcohol certifications. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Skills and Knowledge: Ability to do the following: Mix and serve efficiently and quickly a wide variety of classic and innovative alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by utilizing ingredients such as liquors, sodas, water, sugar, bitters and fruit garnishes for drinks such as an Alexander, Margarita, Zombie, Long Island Ice Tea, Pina Colada, Singapore Sling, etc. Properly draw beer from tap and change out kegs when needed. Be able to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Evaluate bar stock and adjust inventory levels based on the volume of business and high volume drinks requested from guests. Can recommend a selection of wine, beer or liquor to customers and be able explain the distinction and difference between them. Responsibility: Instructions concerning the proper operation of the bar are furnished orally and where needed in writing by the manager. Incumbent is held responsible for the proper operation of the bar, receipts, inventory accountability and customer service. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications Requirements: Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable bartending experience. Must be able to communicate in English both orally and in writing. Computer literate with a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must be available for nights, weekends, special events and some holidays. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Physical Effort: Must walk or stand for prolonged periods of time. Frequent light to moderate lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. Lifts and carries objects up to 40 lbs independently and objects over 40 lbs with assistance. Uses dolly to transport beer kegs. Working Conditions: Works inside with adequate lighting, heat, and ventilation. Subject to cuts, bruises, and chapped hands.
