Hourly Salary Range:
$21.28 - $28.42

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Work schedule may vary based upon departmental need. 9/80 flexible schedule may be allowed after successful completion of initial probationary period (6 months).
May be required to work extended hours in order to complete overtime projects and to provide weekend/holiday coverage on a rotating basis.

DESCRIPTION
The Court Services Specialist performs a variety of specialized clerical work in support of the operations and services of the Tempe Municipal Court.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Organize and prepare the court docket; schedule hearing, trial and sentencing dates with attorneys and defendants.
• Perform tasks in an open courtroom with multiple competing priorities, often communicating simultaneously with judges, attorneys and litigants.
• Enter necessary information in the case management system to produce a variety of court documents including notices of trial dates, delinquencies in payments, refunds, forfeitures, revocations, judgments, dispositions and court calendars; prepare summons; file and reclaim file folders and court records.
• Issue, record and process warrants; research computer data for prior warrants, violations and other pertinent data; prepare "show cause" orders and notifications for payment of bonds.
• Set, log and notify appropriate parties regarding hearings for motions, evidentiary motions, and domestic violence orders.
• Provide information to parties requesting orders of protection and harassment injunctions; update files with a high degree of accuracy.
• Use the court’s case management system proficiently and accurately.
• Be proficient in court related and customer service job duties such as courtrooms, processing cases, assisting customers on phones and at the front counter.
• Respond to and resolve routine defendant requests and resident inquiries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience:
Requires two (2) years of general clerical experience, including some public service contact, or one (1) year of clerical or customer service experience in a court. Experience in a court or law office is preferred.
Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.

Education:
Requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalency, supplemented by additional training in word processing, filing and record keeping, or a degree related to the core functions of this position.
