**Summary**
As a Sous chef, you would be primarily responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing and directing the work in the Banquet Kitchen Department. Overseeing the food preparation of all banquet and catering events from 5 to 600+ guests, while ensuring superior quality and consistency at all times.
**What You'll Do**
• Coordinate, plan, participate, and supervise the production, preparation and presentation of food.
• Verify that all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies and procedures are maintained by kitchen employees.
• Assist with regular kitchen duties whenever possible, i.e., al-cart prep work, line cook assistance, cleaning and organizing kitchen.
• Maintain high standards of quality and appearance of all food prepare and served
• Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
• Fill in for the Food & Beverage Manager in planning & directing food preparation when necessary
• Monitor to ensure proper receiving, storage and rotation of food products, as to comply with the health department regulations, including coverage, labeling, dating and placing items in proper containers for kitchen and service.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills, along with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
• Familiar with ordering and inventory procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with a team.
• Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational & training abilities are used often.
• Provide a safe, sanitary work environment, which conforms to all health standards & regulations.
**Experience**
• A degree from a post-secondary culinary arts training program is desirable or 3 years of supervisory responsibilities.
• A minimum of 5 years in a food preparation position encompassing all phases of food preparation and kitchen operations is required. Must become familiar with and work with all kitchen equipment.
• Candidate must be willing to be hands on with staff and operations and be willing to work event-based hours that include evenings and weekends.
• Present a positive, professional image.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills.
**Education**
Completion of an Associate's degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

**Hybrid Workplace**
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
