Responsibilities Job Summary Responsible for providing patient liability amounts to patients, potential patients, physicians' offices, financial counselors and attorney offices for procedures performed at HonorHealth facilities. This position is frequently the public's first point of contact with HonorHealth, must relay information succinctly and with a high level of professionalism, confidence, and exceptional customer service skills. Demonstrates caring and compassion in all interactions with patients, which are key elements of the HonorHealth behavior standards. Applies pricing methodologies accurately: Conducts analysis, pricing and risk assessment to estimate financial outcomes for the customer. Obtains pertinent information from appropriate parties to provide accurate pricing, such information may include CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes, estimated length of stay, expected patient class, and estimated time in the operating room and any payer/benefits information, including deductible and out-of-pocket maximums, co-pays and co-insurance percentage information. Documents EMR promptly and sufficiently. Uses pricing software effectively and proficiently and produces accurate pricing estimate/deposit documents. Translates ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS procedures codes to an appropriate estimated DRG for pricing purposes. Provides estimated DRGs to Pre-Service and Admitting staff for inpatient accounts. Communicates pricing and responds timely to all pricing inquiry calls and requests for pricing submitted through the HonorHealth website. Acts as a financial steward for the organization: Demonstrates a thorough understanding of and adherence to network financial policies. Demonstrates a thorough understanding and appropriately communicates, explains, and offers self-pay packages, prompt pay discounts, direct pay discounts, basic financial assistance, and charity applications. Communicates timely and effectively with Charity Committee physicians and PFS Self-Pay unit on charity applications submitted through Pre-Services. Keeps detailed records of charity/financial assistance application submissions. Serves as an effective liaison with EMR analysts on EPIC Estimates functionality, upgrades, and enhancements. Manages the Self-Pay Package forms and ensures they are kept current. Periodically evaluates self-pay estimate reports and initiates requests for additional self-pay packages when the need is evident. Documents EMR timely and appropriately of all details of interactions and actions. Analyzes reports and makes adjustment accordingly. Records all incoming and outgoing calls using vendor software and documents tracking number on patient’s account or on applicable documents for non-patients. Contact patients or other parties and provides appropriate insurance benefit and patient responsibility deposit estimate. Works well with peers; takes responsibility for actions and non-actions. Adapts well to change, eagerly accepts new assignments and actively contributes to team goals with enthusiasm and full support. Cross-cover for Financial Counselors when needed. Qualifications Education Associate's Degree or 2 years' work related experience in related healthcare field and or 2 years’ experience in lieu of degree. Required Experience 2 years hospital registration/financial counseling/patient account collections or equivalent with an emphasis on customer service. Required
