**Summary**

Responsible for managing and directing technical managers, engineers, technicians, and business critical subject matter-experts in assignments involving the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of technical new resource major projects valued up to $900 million. These technical major projects include direct management of planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, testing and startup of new power plants and existing power plants including all types of generation (i.e. fossil, hydro, solar, wind, nuclear, etc.).

**What You'll Do**

+ Develop objectives per SRP executive management direction for major projects in Power Generation. Outline detailed work plans and management controls for technical major projects valued at between $75 million and $900 million. These technical major projects include management of planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, testing and startup of new resources (including installation of new generating units at brownfield sites, greenfield sites, or existing power generation facilities).

+ Manage, train, and develop professional and technical managers, engineers, and business critical subject-matter experts in the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of assigned new resource major projects.

+ Direct and coordinate project activities across multiple departments and companies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

+ Communicate effectively with key stakeholders, team members, and subcontractors to convey project goals, timelines, and expectations. Anticipate and address the future needs of power plant staff who will be operating and maintaining the new resources developed.

+ Develop long and short-term plans for departmental budgets, capital expenditures, and O&M budgets. Create manpower requirements and schedules, utilizing tools such as Gantt charts, to effectively manage assigned major technical projects within budgetary constraints.

+ Employ productivity improvements by establishing, monitoring, and implementing productivity indicators, and recommending process changes as necessary.

+ Conduct strategic risk management assessments and identify potential risks associated with construction projects. Implement strategies to mitigate risks effectively.

+ Lead recruitment and interviewing processes. Be accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams, including engineering, contract administration, procurement, legal, construction, and commissioning teams.

+ Manage procurement, negotiation and award of major consultant, equipment, and construction contracts with direct recommendation responsibility on multi-million-dollar value decisions.

+ Oversee project budgets, reporting budget variances, and developing strategies to mitigate unforeseen costs.

+ Direct engineering managers, engineers, and technicians in performing value engineering analysis.

+ Act as a key participant in consultations with local governmental agencies on work-related matters.

+ Evaluate and recommend innovative improvements to SRP’s Generation Fleet.

+ Represent SRP management to outside agencies impacted by project assignments and activities.

+ Manage consultant and contractor activities, serving as a focal point of contact with external entities.

+ Develop, implement, and maintain management administrative standards and criteria to ensure consistent project performance within SRP.

+ Implement quality control measures to ensure that construction meets industry standards and specifications.

+ Address unexpected issues that may arise during construction through effective problem-solving.

+ Prioritize and maintain a strong focus on health and safety standards throughout the construction process.

+ Oversee permitting and approval processes to ensure compliance with regulations.

**What It Takes To Succeed**

+ Ability to effectively navigate the complexities of power plant construction projects and contribute to their successful completion.

+ Experience managing large scale construction projects (Power Plant experience preferred)

+ Understanding of the commissioning and start-up phases of power plants to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operation.

+ Knowledge of the permitting process and experience in obtaining necessary approvals from regulatory authorities.

+ Strong relationship management skills

+ Effective time management skills

+ Ability to solve complex problems.

+ Experience managing large budgets.

**Experience**

Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a related field.

Engineering degree preferred.

**Education**

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

**Hybrid Workplace**

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
