SUMMARY

AGM’s CNC Programmer/Machinist - Regular position requires mechanical abilities and proficiency in the operation and programming of machine shop equipment utilizing manual programming and/or CAM software programming and all common machine shop equipment and procedures. This includes the ability to read shop prints utilizing GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), material lists to modify production parts, assisting in the design and manufacturing of fixtures for production, preventive maintenance and minor repairs on shop equipment, and working with the Machine Shop Manager to optimize work schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Read engineering drawings and determine applicable procedures to make or modify parts as required
Complete required work to drawing specifications while minimizing scrap material
Work with Machine Shop Manager and Production Manager to prioritize shop schedule in order to maintain optimum production efficiencies
Coordinate with the Machine Shop Manager on producing tooling, jigs or fixtures for use in the Production Department
Discuss methods to improve manufacturing procedures or increase production efficiencies with the Machine Shop Manager and other Managers
Operate all machinery in accordance with Company safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment
Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on all shop equipment and maintain all safety devices
Inform Machine Shop Manager of major maintenance needs or safety deficiencies as soon as possible
Follow AGM’s Quality Management System processes and procedures
Other duties may be assigned by a Manager/Supervisor in other areas or departments as needed

The CNC Programmer/Machinist – Regular position requires actual experience with CNC machining, Mazak CNC or CNC programming. This position requires a substantial amount of machine shop experience including prior work with CNC lathes and CNC mills utilizing manual programming, CAM software programming, drill presses, vertical mills, surface grinders, lathes, saws and presses. Proficiency in reading prints, drawings, diagrams, material requisitions, and material lists is also required. The capability of successfully communicating work progress and schedule with the Machine Shop Manager is essential.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and proof of related experience.

COMMUNICATION PROFICIENCY

Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have ability to write routine memos and suggestions. Must be able to speak effectively within small groups of employees in organization.

MATHEMATICAL APTITUDE

Must be proficient in technical math including algebra, plane geometry, and trigonometry.

COGNITIVE ABILITY AND REASONING

Must be able to solve practical problems. Must have ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, hear, talk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly work in close proximity to moving mechanical parts or machines and will be frequently exposed to vibration. The employee will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment to minimize exposure to fumes or airborne particles. In addition, the employee is exposed to, and may come in direct contact with, potentially hazardous chemicals or materials. Therefore, the employee must follow proper safety procedures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be very loud at times and requires ear protection.

This position requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency, or status as a U.S. Person as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)). In addition, this position is subject to federal government requirements pertaining to the authorized access of controlled information; dual citizenship status may preclude certain individuals from meeting this requirement.
