About the Position: Serves as a System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) administrator in the Server Management Branch, Desktop & System Support Division, Network Enterprise Center.
Ensure systems are kept current with appropriate software, patches, fixes, security issues and all IAVA compliancy.
Provide guidance to project directors on how to integrate systems and services into the standard architecture.
Determine most efficient and cost effective method meeting requirements such as modification of current capabilities, replacement of items, upgrades, etc.
Ensure identified requirements meet compatibility with DoD and NEC Fort Huachuca architectural standards.
Design, test, and develop software update packages.
Ensure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services.
Identify processes for simplification and improving the individual quality of work performed and support provided.
Write, revise, and implement various organizational policies and procedures to provide quality support to internal customers.
Conditions of Employment
Position may be filled as a temporary promotion, temporary reassignment, or temporary change to lower grade NTE 12 months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions, reassignments, or change to lower grades may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 13 months, if a candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years. Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration): Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, or applications software; utilizing configuration management software such as System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for information system installation, integration, update, or enhancement; and planning studies or analysis of hardware/software to ensure requirements are accomplished in a cost effective and efficient manner. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
