Senior IT Network Engineer

+ Provides analysis and design, configures, installs and optimizes LAN's (local area networks- both network operating systems and the network infrastructure and cable plant), their interfaces with WANs (wide area networks), and data communications hardware and software (e.g., routers, switches, wireless). Coordinates with and provides appropriate support to third parties performing server, LAN, WAN and data communications configurations and installations. Normally focuses on requirements with high to moderate complexity.

+ In depth knowledge of Perimeter Security and provides design and support for Firewall, IPS, VPN, SSL and other security related technologies such as Application Layer Firewalls.

+ Conducts preliminary installation and testing of LANs, WANs, VPNs and other data communications capabilities and technologies, coordinating as appropriate with Quality Assurance personnel and Server and Application Teams.

+ Maintains and repairs or coordinates third party maintenance and/or repair of, LANs, WANs, VPNs and data communications hardware/software. Typically handles situations with high to moderate complexity. Includes:

+ Carries out preventive maintenance programs

+ Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems

+ Resolves problems (on site during business hours; 24x 7 on-call support during "off-hours")

+ Assures the efficient and trouble-free operation of all infrastructure servers, data communications equipment, remote and local communications controllers.

+ Restoration of failed or degraded network components and/or facilities to satisfy Service level agreements.

+ Performs hardware and software upgrades on network hardware and network operating systems.

+ Required to work one Sunday per month for Maintenance Window

+ Provides support for communications related problems associated with Unix, Windows, Messaging, Telecom based applications, VOIP, Microsoft Teams, Genesys contact centers, Audio Visual collaboration tools, server platforms and ethernet topologies.

+ Applies strong knowledge of Network, cable management, wiring and fiber protocols, diagnostic techniques and tools (e.g.,) to analyze, diagnose, and resolve network problems.

+ Installs, maintains, and documents network-based software packages.

+ Maintains network documentation including but not limited to network diagrams, circuit inventories, network hardware inventory and configurations, server interfaces.

+ Develops, recommends, and implements network related operational techniques and methodologies, and support guidelines which maximize use of network hardware, circuits and resources.

+ Performs all other duties, as required.


+ This position requires a four-year college degree or equivalent

+ 5+ years of progressively responsible experience including, but not limited to, significant experience with LANs and WANs.

+ Hands on expertise with server and communications technologies, including both installation and support.

+ In addition, prefer knowledge of a broad range of IT technologies and applications. Experience with various routing protocols.

+ Good knowledge of project planning/management techniques, preferably with solid experience in their use.

+ Consulting skills. Well organized with strong communication (including technical writing), interpersonal, and analysis skills.

+ Familiarity with change management techniques. Extensive Hardware/software testing and problem diagnostic skills.

+ In depth experience with Intrusion Prevention devices, Firewalls and VPNs. Strong vendor management skills.

+ Project Management, Organization and analysis skills are required.

+ Ideal candidate will have experience with Cisco, Pulse SSL VPN, Checkpoint, Aruba, Riverbed, F5, Fortinet, and Blue Coat as well Global Data Center architecture, DWDM/SONET technologies and Dynamic routing technologies
