Requirements
Summary of Position Responsibilities:

KAEKO is seeking a Entry Level Survey Field Technician with one to two years of relevant experience. The overall position of the Field Technician is to assist the Survey Party Chief in completing the crew’s assigned survey projects. The position requires good basic math skills related to surveying, good verbal and written communication skills and the motivation to follow instructions completely and accurately while working in rough terrain and inclement weather. These responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

Ability to operate a total station instrument and data collector.
Record survey measurements and descriptive data, using notes, drawings, and sketches.
Collect information needed to carry out new surveys, using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records, and other relevant information.
Provide assistance in the development of methods and procedures for conducting field surveys.
Perform quality control checks of plats and drawings prepared by other technicians.
Keep crew’s assigned vehicle clean, properly maintained, and stocked with the necessary equipment and supplies as instructed by the Party Chief. Report any mechanical or safety related problems to the Party Chief.
Communicate and coordinate with other crew members to facilitate the timely and accurate completion of projects.
Stand, walk, use hands, tools, controls, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as well as lift and/or move up to 20-40 pounds.
Observe all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on active construction sites.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required.
Strong listening, writing, and verbal communications skills
Ability to take direction and work independently
Understand construction staking mathematics and measurements.
Prior Instrument Operator experience preferred.
Able to read plans (i.e., construction documents, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, etc.).
Knowledge of Land Surveying Techniques, Principles, & Standards
Ability to work extended hours, including Saturdays and ability to travel out of town for extended periods of time.
Candidates should be able to handle extremes of outdoor work conditions in all seasons.
Maintain a current driver’s license in good standing.
