About the Department of Correctional Health Services
Correctional Health Services (CHS) is an industry-leading healthcare organization for the incarcerated population, providing medical, dental, mental health, psychiatric care, and substance abuse treatment (i.e., Medication Assisted Treatment, and Opioid Treatment Program). Position Qualifications

Education
Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited University or College

Experience
Three years of experience in psychological evaluation, administration, and interpretation of psychological tests

Other Requirements
A valid, unrestricted psychologist license, issued by the Arizona State Board of Psychologist Examiners
Must meet requirements for supervision of associate-level licensed and unlicensed staff with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners

Our Preferred Candidate has
Ten years of experience in Correctional Health Care
Five years of experience supervising other clinical staff
Certified Correctional Health Professional – Mental Health
Experience triaging internal and external referrals
Experience coordinating the completion of Mental Health Petitions with community providers
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Essential Job Tasks

Coordinates counseling and mental health services in the Mental Health Unit
Establishes effective, sustainable, integrated, and collaborative suicide prevention and intervention approaches and practices applicable to all mental health staff roles
Enhances and optimizes care and service delivery through the development and implementation of policies and clinical practice guidelines
Reviews clinical cases and supports documentation for performance and care
Provides clinical supervision for licensed and unlicensed mental health staff assigned to the Mental Health Unit
Participates in multidisciplinary and collaborative efforts to enhance service delivery, build interdepartmental functioning, and manage change initiatives
Serves as a primary resource for training and professional development of mental health staff assigned to the Mental Health Unit
Facilitates and documents weekly and bi-weekly team meetings with National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards
Works cooperatively with Human Resources to recruit, select, and train new employees
Generates, distributes, and utilizes reports to maximize the quality of service delivery and patient care

Working Conditions
Must be able to work in a jail within close physical proximity to others. May have frequent work interruptions.
Selection Procedure
The Maricopa County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates considered to be the most highly qualified. Those selected will be assessed based on the evaluation of listed education and experience. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a list provided by Human Resources.

A background investigation is conducted on a current employee who changes to a Safety Sensitive Position or one having the potential for serious adverse impact on the integrity or efficiency of the County. Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on relevant experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
