Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for an Electronics Technician 2 to join our team in Wallops Island, VA. As an integral member of the electrical integration, test, and launch operations team.
The Integration & Test Electronics Technician 2 : Performs critical tasks for the build and verification of the Antares medium lift rocket which delivers supplies and scientific equipment to the International Space Station under the NASA Commercial Resupply Services (CRS2) contract.
Candidates will contribute to the final assembly, integration, test and flight of various orbital and sub-orbital space launch vehicle systems.
Specific duties may include:
+ Hands-on installation of electrical flight hardware (instrumentation, control/communications modules, power components, etc) into t he Launch Vehicle.
+ Hands-on electrical testing and check-out of flight hardware; and troubleshooting, documenting, and pursuing root cause of discrepancies found with flight hardware.
+ Upgrade/maintenance of Electrical Ground Support Equipment used in the build/test of the Antares Launch Vehicle
+ Under engineering supervision, performs routine technical functions supporting activities such as integration, test, checkout, operation, and maintenance of complex electronic systems.
+ Work in a fast-paced team environment supporting launch vehicle avionics hardware & software system and subsystem level integration, test and launch operations.
+ Operate and maintain Electrical Ground Support Equipment for manufacturing and launch operations.
+ Maintain calibration and inventory control of test cables, bench, handheld and other test equipment.
+ Configure electrical test equipment and cabling for manufacturing and launch pad environments.
+ As part of a small team, perform test procedures in manufacturing and launch pad environments.
+ Support troubleshooting flight rated avionics utilizing a variety of test and measurement equipment.
+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vehicle Systems, Mechanical, Quality and Safety Teams
+ Maintain launch day schedule by performing other duties as necessary.
+ High School Diploma - 2 years of additional education and/or related experience
+ Fundamental knowledge of some of the following electronics disciplines; analog, digital, radio frequency, power circuits and fundamental knowledge of Microcontroller and or Programmable Logic Controllers
+ Ability to work in a fast pace team environment and multi-task - Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Willing to work overtime and 2nd shift operations on occasions as required
+ The candidate will possess the ability to work from schematics, diagrams, procedures, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and troubleshooting.
+ Prior experience following written procedures verifying the configuration and functionality of systems and equipment to ensure conformance with specifications desired but not required.
+ Experience using standard off-the-shelf test equipment including oscilloscopes, RF Power Meters & Spectrum Analyzers, bench power supplies, and two wire and four wire digital multi meters
+ Experience in the testing of space-flight instruments and/or spacecraft or related electronic and electro-mechanical components and systems is desirable but not required.
+ Experience with diverse computer-based User Interfaces, including Windows and LINUX based systems for the purpose of testing Flight Systems or similarly complex systems.
+ Basic troubleshooting skills and proven ability to work within a team to identify root cause and appropriate corrective action(s).
+ Candidate must possess skills needed to perform test procedures and verify test data against pass/fail criteria to ensure that hardware is tested properly and has passed all required tests.
+ Documentation skills and experience on common PC desktop applications are also required

Salary Range: $44,600.00 - $74,300.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
