    Peckham Inc. - Senior Network Engineer

    SUMMARY

    The Senior Network Engineer (SNE) will focus on ensuring the optimal performance and security of enterprise network technologies, supporting corporate operations. The SNE will collaborate closely with peers across various IT service areas in network analysis, design, implementation, and troubleshooting. This role will also provide hands-on and remote support of multi-vendor network technologies, along with maintaining expertise in wired and wireless networking and emerging technologies. The SNE will work closely with the Data Center team, participate in IT Department projects, and demonstrating an understanding of organizational policies and standards while promoting Peckham’s vision and values.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Provide a lead team role to ensure all enterprise network technologies perform optimally and securely to support Peckham corporate and business line operations.

    + Participate in network analysis, design and implementation, support, and troubleshooting with Network and Data Center Infrastructure team peers along with other Peckham IT service area teams and contracted resources.

    + Provide both hands-on and remote support/administration of assigned multi-vendor network and related technologies along with counterpart monitoring systems.

    + Maintain a solid understanding of enterprise-level wired and wireless networking, unified communications, and emerging Software Defined Network and Data Center concepts including virtual cloud and hybrid environments.

    + Work closely with the Data Center team and maintain a solid understanding of computers and storage technologies and functions relative to network/virtual-network distribution, both on premises and in cloud computing environments.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Participate in, and support, Peckham IT Department projects and initiatives with fellow service area staff.

    + Utilize and support network monitoring, logging, and scanning systems.

    + Utilize Peckham IT departmental management and change control systems.

    + Attend training and maintain certifications as necessary to develop, demonstrate and maintain skills and support Peckham client contracted-services requirements.

    + Provide Peckham IT Department management with timely status and reporting information as assigned within areas of responsibility.

    + Maintain and adhere to the Peckham organizational standard practices and policies.

    + Produce, update, and maintain Peckham Information Technology Department procedures, policies, and documentation.

    + Perform knowledge transfer and mentoring for Peckham IT Department staff.

    + Comply with the Peckham organizational privacy and security policies.

    + Participate in after-hours support and project work along with on-call rotations as necessary and assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    + Bachelor’s level college degree in an IT related field and progressive 3-5 years’ experience and thought leadership with enterprise local and wide area networking technologies.

    + A combination of relevant experience and education will also be considered.

    + Possess an in-depth understanding and hands-on experience with physical network routers (routing protocols), switches, and wireless technologies.

    + Possess a broad understanding of associated networking technologies, particularly regarding security systems such as firewall IDS/IPS appliances and scanning technologies.

    + This position requires passing and maintaining federal and state security background checks. U.S. Citizenship required due to security clearances.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Experience in Cisco ISR, Cisco Catalyst, and Cisco Nexus platforms

    + Experience with both interior and external routing protocols including OSPF and BGP

    + Experience with Cisco Wireless Solutions

    Coordinates complex programming support for machining parts, tools, or sheet metal on numerically controlled machine tools from engineering design stage through the finished part. Ensures parts conform to dimensional specifications and equipment achieves throughput efficiency.

    1. Provides programming support for machining parts, tools, or sheet metal on numerically controlled machine tools by writing complex programs of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control tape or direct numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path. Changes, updates and/or initiates manufacturing processes.

    2. Safely and economically produces a part to the manufacturing engineering specification or drawing by selecting proper cutting tools for each part, taking into consideration such factors as speeds, types of cutters, feeds, and control system limitations.

    3. Selects program routines for the most efficient computer calculation of dimensional and machining requirements for each part buy computing angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlining sequence of operations required to machine the part.

    4. Determines dimension and configuration of difficult cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates by analyzing drawings, sketches, and design data of part.
